Hong Kong Airport is set to welcome a second Star Alliance lounge, as United Airlines plans to reopen its United Club in the coming months.
The lounge has been closed since February 2020, marking the start of the pandemic, even though United Airlines now operates twice-daily flights to San Francisco and Los Angeles. Earlier this year, United announced that the lounge would reopen sometime in 2025, and a recent document from the Hong Kong government detailing airport lounge operations confirms the United Club is scheduled to reopen in June or July 2025. However, don’t expect it to match the level of United’s US-based Polaris lounges.
Located near Gate 60, close to the first stop on the T1 ‘automated people mover’ train, the United Club will be situated alongside the Singapore Airlines lounge. It will serve business class travelers and Star Alliance Gold members, offering a prime viewing spot from its upper mezzanine level overlooking the airfield and mountains beyond.
The return of the United Club essentially restores Hong Kong’s lounge landscape to its pre-COVID state, complemented by new additions such as the independent Kyra Lounge—housed in the space previously occupied by Cathay Pacific’s The Cabin until 2018—and the unique Intervals bar, perched atop the Sky Bridge to the satellite terminal.
As previously reported, Cathay Pacific has reopened The Bridge lounge and will close The Wing First for a comprehensive year-long renovation next week, with The Deck being temporarily transformed into a first-class lounge during the upgrade.
