Oman Air will officially join the Oneworld alliance on June 30, 2025, which is a delay from the originally expected late 2024 timeline. CEO Con Korfiatis announced plans for a new top tier in its Sindbad rewards program to complement Oneworld Emerald status. The airline aims for pragmatic growth with new aircraft, including two Boeing 787s in early 2025 and six more deliveries starting in 2027, while targeting break-even by late 2026 or early 2027.
Korfiatis revealed plans to resume double-daily flights to London Heathrow in late 2026 by reclaiming leased take-off and landing slots. From December 3, Oman Air will introduce new fare types—Super Saver, Comfort, and Flex—in both economy and business classes, aligning with its alliance preparations.
As a member of Oneworld, Oman Air will enable earn-and-burn opportunities for frequent flyers and offer reciprocal status benefits through its Sindbad loyalty program. The airline is considering adding a third elite status tier to its loyalty scheme above the existing Sindbad Silver and Gold tiers, potentially aligned with Oneworld Emerald status.
Key benefits for the new tier would include access to Oman Air’s first class lounge in Muscat and discounts on additional services. Following Oman Air’s entry, Fiji Airways is expected to join Oneworld in late 2025, with Hawaiian Airlines and Taiwan’s Starlux also considered as future members.
