Disneyland Paris, situated in Marne-la-Vallée, France, approximately 32 kilometers east of Paris, is a prominent entertainment resort featuring two theme parks, seven Disney-operated hotels, two convention centers, a golf course, an arena, and a comprehensive shopping, dining, and entertainment district. Opened on April 12, 1992, the resort is managed by Disney Experiences, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.
As the second Disney resort established outside the United States, following Tokyo Disney Resort in 1983, Disneyland Paris holds the distinction of being the largest. It is unique among international Disney resorts, being fully owned by The Walt Disney Company. The original theme park, Disneyland Park, commenced operations in 1992, followed by the addition of Walt Disney Studios Park in 2002.
The resort spans approximately 2,100 hectares (5,200 acres), developed under a master agreement with French authorities. Currently, about half of this land has been developed, including a planned community called Val d’Europe.
Recognized as Europe’s most-visited theme park, Disneyland Paris is the largest single-site employer in France, employing approximately 17,000 staff members. In 2023, the resort generated a profit of $343 million for Disney. As of 2022, cumulative visitation to the park exceeded 375 million visitors.
