A Significant Rise in International Visitors
Statistics reveal a remarkable growth in tourism. From January to April, inbound tourists to Beijing surged by 57.1% compared to the same period last year, totaling 1.46 million visitors. This influx resulted in $1.9 billion in tourism revenue, marking a 55% increase from the previous year, clearly indicating Beijing’s growing attractiveness on the world tourism map.

Beijing is ramping up its international promotional initiatives by partnering with global entities to showcase its evolving tourism landscape. The city emphasizes its perfect blend of ancient culture and modern innovation, seeking to ignite worldwide interest and curiosity about visiting Beijing.

Enhancing Visitor Experience
Beijing has also focused on simplifying and improving visitor services:

  • Expanding international flight connections to major world cities for easier access.
  • Implementing streamlined visa procedures with dedicated zones for quicker processing.
  • Accepting foreign bank cards on the subway, making local transportation more convenient.

Shopping and High-Tech Offerings
To attract international shoppers, Beijing has introduced instant tax refunds at select outlets, with refunds of up to 9% on purchases, making shopping more rewarding. The China World Mall is among the first to offer this service. In addition, the city caters to tech enthusiasts by stocking the latest Chinese-made gadgets, from smartphones to drones, positioning itself as a shopping haven for high-tech electronics.

Showcasing Attractions to Global Travel Agents
Prior to the launch of these initiatives, Beijing hosted over 270 travel agents from more than 40 nations. During their 48-hour tour, they experienced a mix of traditional and modern attractions—ranging from dragon boat races at Yanqi Lake to China’s first IP-themed park from Pop Mart—getting a firsthand look at Beijing’s vibrant offerings.
