Starting December 2026, travelers will enjoy seamless high-speed train connections linking Germany, Austria, and Italy through a new international partnership between Deutsche Bahn, Trenitalia, and ÖBB. This new cross-border rail route will connect Rome and Munich directly, offering a faster and more convenient travel option across Europe.
Supported by the European Union, the service will feature Italy’s renowned Frecciarossa trains, making their debut in Germany for the first time. Passengers can expect a sleek, comfortable ride with state-of-the-art amenities as they travel between these iconic cities.
Looking ahead, there are also plans to expand service to Berlin, further enhancing the continent’s high-speed rail network. This development promises travelers an efficient, eco-friendly way to explore Europe’s cultural and historic hotspots, making train travel an even more attractive option for long-distance journeys across the region.
