Airbus has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Thai Airways (THAI) to retrofit the airline’s fleet of A350-900 aircraft.
This agreement was announced on April 9, 2025, during a signing ceremony at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany.
Airbus will manage the retrofit program, which will feature state-of-the-art cabin upgrades aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and operational efficiency. The upgraded Thai Airways A350-900s will include the latest innovations, such as modernized and elevated ‘Royal Silk’ business class seats, new premium economy class seats, and improved economy class seating.
The cabin modernization is set to begin in 2028, and it will also introduce an enhanced in-flight entertainment system.
The retrofitted aircraft are expected to be reintroduced into service gradually, ensuring that Thai Airways’ flight operations experience minimal disruption. “Airbus is delighted to support THAI in this significant investment in their fleet, ensuring that their A350 aircraft continue to provide passengers with an exceptional flying experience. This retrofit aligns with our shared vision of delivering improved comfort, efficiency, and sustainability for airlines and their customers,” stated Balinda Zhang, Airbus Head of Commercial Services Asia Pacific.
Airbus emphasized that the agreement “reaffirms its long-standing partnership with THAI and its commitment to supporting the airline’s fleet modernization strategy.”
