Taiwanese airline China Airlines has finalized its preliminary agreement for 10 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, which will be utilized for long-haul flights to Europe and North America.
The initial agreement was announced in December of last year and is part of a mixed order with Boeing.
While specific details about the A350 order, including delivery timelines, have not been disclosed, chair Kao Shing-Hwang stated that the new aircraft will enhance its existing A350-900 fleet and play a vital role in transforming its long-haul operations.
The airline is also upgrading the cabins of its A350-900s in collaboration with interiors specialist Recaro. In total, China Airlines is acquiring 24 widebody aircraft as part of its modernization initiative. This includes the 10 A350-1000s, alongside 10 Boeing 777-9s and four 777-8 freighters.
The total value of this agreement has been estimated at $11.8 billion.
Earlier this month, China Airlines announced the introduction of three A321neos, which will be acquired through a 12-year lease with Avolon.
