Hilton has achieved a milestone by opening its 1,000th hotel in the Asia Pacific, rising from 761 at the end of last year, surpassing its goal of 1,000 by 2025. The company has experienced a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 25% over the past five years, driven by a growing middle class seeking travel experiences.
Hilton currently has 915 hotels in various stages of development, positioning it to double its overall portfolio. According to Alan Watts, President of Hilton Asia Pacific, the rapid expansion is fueled by increasing customer demand for unique travel experiences across all price points, with new openings in key cities and resorts.
Recent additions contributing to the 1,000 milestone include Hilton Shanghai City Center, Hilton Gurugram Baani City Center, and Canopy Osaka, among others. Clarence Tan, Senior Vice President of Development, noted that many opportunities for growth remain as demand outpaces supply in the region.
Looking forward, Hilton aims to double its current 500 mid-market hotels, expand its luxury offerings to 150 locations, and grow its full-service brands, including Hilton Hotels & Resorts and DoubleTree by Hilton, with a projected addition of 160 hotels. Three-quarters of the 915 hotels in the pipeline are already under construction.
In Greater China, Hilton has surpassed 700 hotels, with 758 operating across 10 brands. The company continues to enhance its presence in India, with recent openings and a strategic agreement to introduce 150 Spark by Hilton hotels. Additionally, Hilton is expanding in Southeast Asia, recently debuting in Laos and planning further developments in Vietnam.
As demand for authentic experiences grows, Hilton sees significant opportunities in its lifestyle brands, including Canopy by Hilton and Tapestry Collection by Hilton.
