Cathay Pacific has announced the addition of Munich and Brussels to its European network as part of its recovery efforts following previous challenges. Services are set to launch in the summer of 2025, marking the airline’s inaugural operations to Munich.
The first flight is scheduled for June 16, 2025, with a service frequency of four times a week. This new route will complement the airline’s existing daily service to Frankfurt, making it its second route to Germany. Both routes will be serviced by Cathay’s Airbus A350-900 aircraft, featuring a tri-class configuration.
Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Cathay, expressed excitement about the new routes, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce Munich to our network for the first time and to return to Brussels next year, bringing our total European destinations to 10 and 11, respectively.”
She emphasized that “Hong Kong is a major international financial, commercial, and aviation hub, and these flights will offer our customers direct access between our home city and two significant centers in Europe.”
Part of a Broader Recovery Strategy
These new routes are part of the airline’s comprehensive recovery and growth strategy, which aims to establish a route network encompassing 100 destinations worldwide by the end of 2025. Additionally, Cathay has confirmed it will introduce seven weekly Cathay Cargo freighter flights to and from Europe starting in summer 2025.
Lau further commented, “Cathay Pacific has been operating non-stop flights to Europe for more than 40 years, and we are dedicated to this vital market. Alongside these two new routes, we are also excited to increase flight frequencies on our other European services next summer, enhancing choice and convenience for our customers traveling between Hong Kong and the continent.”
By summer 2025, Cathay Pacific plans to operate up to 93 return passenger flights per week to Europe, an increase from the current 78 flights per week. The expansion will also include five daily flights to London, as well as daily services to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Manchester, Milan, Paris, and Zurich. Additionally, there will be four weekly flights to Madrid and Barcelona, with the latter being a seasonal summer service.
