- Dubai Hills
Dubai Hills Golf Club is a newly established 18-hole golf course located in the heart of Dubai. Opened in 2018 and designed by Gary Johnston, the course boasts sparkling lakes, expansive fairways, and beautiful greens. Poised to become Dubai’s most iconic golfing destination, it offers memorable holes that cater to golfers of all skill levels, combining playability with challenge, all while providing stunning views of the city’s skyline. The par-72 championship course not only tests your abilities but also ensures that the iconic Burj Khalifa remains etched in your memory.
2. Emirates Golf club (Majalis Course)
The Majlis course has earned a stellar reputation globally as a challenging layout, even for the most skilled golfers. It is adorned with hundreds of native species of flora and fauna, elegantly framed by winding fairways and seven freshwater and saltwater lakes.
Named after the Arabic word for “meeting place,” the Majlis is notable for being the first grass course in the Middle East. One of its standout features is the Majlis building, prominently situated between the 8th and 9th holes, which has been a Dubai landmark since 1988.
Just one month after its opening, the Majlis course hosted its first significant regional tournament, the Pan-Arab. The club’s international recognition was solidified in 1989 when it hosted its inaugural European Tour event, the Dubai Desert Classic. Over two decades later, this tournament reaches hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide, attracting many of the world’s top players, including Tiger Woods and Ernie Els, and establishing itself as one of the premier events on the European PGA Tour.
The par 4, dogleg 8th hole is arguably the most challenging hole on the course. With a stroke index of 3 and a length of 434 yards, it is uniquely uphill, demanding a long, well-placed drive to set up a manageable second shot toward its small, undulating green—where the risk of a dreaded 3-putt always looms.
3. Jumeriah Golf Estate (Earth Course)
Drawing inspiration from the renowned parkland courses of Europe and North America, the Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course is the proud host of the DP World Tour Championship. Set against the stunning backdrop of Dubai, this course offers an unforgettable golfing experience. The undulating fairways, striking white bunkers, and deep red ochre landscape are beautifully framed by a variety of trees and shrubs, making every hole a picturesque sight. The course’s natural beauty is enhanced by numerous lakes teeming with diverse wildlife. The experience reaches its peak as the last four holes play alongside or over water, culminating in a winding creek that runs the length of the final hole.
